Cowboy Camp at Chauncey Ranch

Cowboy Camp (12-15 years old)
A two week program geared toward current riders who have a working knowledge of horses and basic horsemanship.  Campers live in the "Cowboy Barn" and spend the day working the Ranch and on Horseback.

Program objectives include: improving basic riding skills and learning about specialities such as roping barrel racing, English riding and rodeo at the end of the session.

Advanced Cowboy Camp (15-17 years old)
This two-week program is geared toward Cowboy Camp Graduates who are year-round riders, and already have a strong working knowledge of horses and horsemanship. The objective of the program is for the participants to improve individual riding and horsemanship skills. This camp will focus on lead changing, spinning, side passing and jumping. Participants will go on day-long trail rides, and be engaged in typical ranch and equestrian-style activities.

Cowboy Gear (Required for all equestrian activities)

Long Pants – (Denim jeans strongly recommended)
absolutely NO shorts

Long Sleeved Cotton, Canvas, or Denim shirt

Closed toe shoes with a heel and smooth soles – Cowboy Boots recommended. NO tennis shoes or hiking-type boots for the safety of the rider.

Helmets are mandatory and required for everyone. Appropriate helmets are supplied by the Ranch. Participants are allowed to supply their own personal helmet, but it must be approved by Ranch Equestrian staff prior to participation.
