Chauncey Ranch & Camp Sky-Y
Counselors (minimum age 18 yrs.)

Will live with and supervise daily activities of a cabin group of 8-10 children and one CIT (Counselor-In-Training). Must be committed to YMCA character values (honesty, respect, responsibility, & caring) and be willing to accept the commitment of helping children improve their self-esteem, self-confidence, and social skills, and to help create a positive summer camp experience for every child in their care. Must understand and accept responsibility of modeling positive behavior. Must also be able to demonstrate proper reasons for being at camp by focusing on the kids versus focusing on other staff.
Lifeguard (minimum age of 18 yrs.)

Must have current Lifeguard Certification from the American Red Cross with the waterfront module, YMCA, or Boy Scouts of America and current CPR. Responsible for supervision of swimming activities, enforcing safety rules, daily maintenance of pool, decks and filter equipment. Requires above certifications as well as experience with pool filtering systems.
Arts & Crafts Specialist (minimum age of 18 yrs.)

Plans and supervises arts & crafts program. Responsible for maintaining inventory, ordering supplies, teaching techniques to campers. Craft projects have included lanyards, leatherworking, candle making, beadwork, plaster of paris, friendship bracelets, dream catchers, and more. Maintain progression of difficulty in projects to appeal to all ages.
Ropes/Climbing Specialist (minimum age of 18 yrs.)

Experience and training in leading and processing group initiative games, low ropes elements, high ropes elements and climbing tower/zip lines. Must have knowledge of ropes, knots, climbing hardware and harnesses, belaying techniques and safety/rescue procedures.
Paintball Specialist (minimum age of 18 yrs.)

Must be familiar with current paintball games, equipment and safety practices. Responsibilities include teaching various paintball game scenarios and supervision of campers during those games, enforcement of course safety rules, and maintenance and ordering of paintball equipment and supplies.
Camp Nurse (minimum age of 21 yrs.)

Must be currently certified as a registered nurse in the State of Arizona preferably working in the field of pediatrics or emergency medicine. Responsible for the operation of the camp health center 24 hours a day. Duties include arrival day health checks and meds check-in, record keeping, safekeeping and disbursement of prescription and over-the-counter meds, and maintaining, controlling, and order (as needed) of medical supply inventory. Evaluation (in cooperation with camp director) of sickness and accidents for possible further treatment, first aid, communication with camp physician and disbursement of TLC to all campers and staff.
Camp Store Manager (minimum age of 20 yrs.)

Responsible for the day to day operation of the Camp Store. Previous retail experience preferred. Responsibilities include: management of the camper and staff store accounts, store inventory, product restocking, end of session refunds, and the general upkeep and appearance of the store.

Must have experience and working knowledge of horses and tack, minor veterinary, feeding and care of horses as well as a love of working with children. Must have focus on safety procedures. Also responsible for grooming, maintaining tack, stable and barn upkeep, teaching children basic horsemanship skills, leading trail rides.

Boy’s/Girl’s Head Counselor (minimum age 21 yrs.)

Responsible for the direct supervision and support of boy’s/girl’s counselors. Reports directly to camp Program Director and helps to drive the daily schedule and programming. Work with counselors in solving discipline, homesickness, and interpersonal issues as they arise in their unit. Cover for counselors during any prolonged absence or time off. Monitor cabin groups for safety issues, camper behavior problems, counselor behavior issues or needs.

Responsible for the planning, operation and safe use of equipment in the archery, air rifle and .22 caliber rifle ranges. Must have experience with teaching shooting skills and be current NRA certified. Will also be responsible for maintaining equipment in safe and operable condition including cleaning guns, ordering supplies, and safely storing inventory.
Activities Coordinator (minimum age of 21 yrs. )

Supervise and coordinate all summer camp activities. Reports directly to camp Program Director and helps to drive the daily schedule and programming. Coordinator must have supervision experience in ropes courses, waterfront, games and other activities.

Create and run successful themed programs for camp theme weeks. Cover for Village Leaders during any prolonged absence or time off. Monitor cabin groups and program areas for safety issues, camper behavior problems, counselor behavior issues or needs.
Village Leader (minimum age of 21 yrs.)

Supervise the counselors and campers in a village (age group) setting. Supervise and coordinate meals according to theme week in the dining hall from set up to clean up. Supervise and create the programming of village unity night once a week. Cover for counselors during any prolonged absence or time off Assist with the general day to day tasks of the Summer Program. Create and coordinate the counselor’s time off in the village.

Responsible for the planning and safe execution of the Mt. Biking program. Responsible for choosing safe routes, ordering of supplies, and daily maintenance of equipment. Must have experience in monitoring and maintaining safety procedures as well as maintaining and repairing bikes.
Ceramics Specialist (minimum age of 18 yrs.)

Plan and supervise ceramics program. From pinch pots and coil projects to throwing on the wheel. Must have experience in firing an electric kiln and knowledge of glazes. Must be knowledgeable of safety practices and willing/able to enforce them.

Dish room duties: cleaning and maintaining kitchen floors, washing dishes using commercial dish washing machine, hand washing pots and pans after each meal. Dining hall duties: sweep and maintain floors, fill napkin holders, set up and take down tables and benches as needed for program.
