There are 5 ways
to give to YMCA Camp.
1. Annual Strong Kids campaign to help sponsor kids to
camp.
2. Giving to the Capital Campaign to build facilities
and make major renovations.
3. Joining the Heritage Club that assures the Camps' future
through your endowment gift.
4. Giving items such as vehicles, tools or equipment.
5. Volunteering your time.
1. Annual Strong Kids Campaign
Strong Kids grow up to be productive adults. Thats
why its important to give meaningful direction to
kids from every social and cultural stratum. They need
a sense of belonging, positive role models and motivation
in an atmosphere thats safe and inviting. Kids get
all that and more at the Valley of the Sun YMCA.
Our goal is to never turn anyone away from programs
because of their inability to pay. This year the
Valley of the Sun YMCA will raise $2 million in the annual
Strong Kids Campaign to make that goal a reality. At Camp,
we will help more than 350 families attend our programs
that otherwise would not be able to attend.
You can help to make a difference in a childs life
by giving any amount. To make it simple, you can register
your own camper online and pay an additional amount to
the Strong Kids campaign. This additional amount is fully
tax-deductible and you will receive a letter of thanks
from the camp office. All givers of $100 or more will
receive a special Strong Kids T-shirt.
Businesses also are encouraged to participate and sponsor
a child or group of children. What could be a better gift
for your employees than the gift of summer camp? Sponsors
of $1,000 and more are recognized as Presidents Club members.
Those of $5,000 and up are recognized as Chairmans
Circle. These special contributors receive an attractive
kids art memento and can attend an Annual
Dinner each Spring.
Regardless of the size of the gift, all gifts enable the
YMCA to enrich and expand its ongoing work with young
people.
2. CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
Because of the generosity of many people and corporations,
YMCA Camp has raised $300,000 during the last year for
special projects at our camps. Some of these projects
include:
A new 2-acre lake at Chauncey Ranch complete with
boathouse and waterfall.
Remodeled Stone House at Chauncey to host families
and Corporate groups in an attractive and first-class
atmosphere.
Construction of a Welcome Center at Chauncey to
be used as Cowboy Camp Headquarters during
the summer and as the home of the High Desert Hunt Club
from October to March.
Re-placing the old corrugated metal roof on the
Dining Hall at Sky-Y with a green standing seam metal
roof.
Expanded Cowboy Camp housing.
Construction of the Sky-Y Screamer
swing.
Remodeling of the Rotary bathhouse at Chauncey.
Our goal is to provide the best facilities and programs
possible as we meet the needs of YMCA campers and guest
groups. The Sky-Y facilities are more than 60 years old
and the Chauncey Ranch buildings are 30 years old.
Some of the hoped for projects on the horizon
include:
High Ropes course at Sky-Y.
Continued expansion of the Cowboy Camp facility.
Remodeled cabins and restrooms at both camps.
Construction of a Covered Wagon Village
at Chauncey Ranch.
Building new program areas including: skate park,
trap & skeet range, go-cart track, observatory, archery
ranges, and sports fields, to name a few.
Teen Retreat Center at Sky-Y for upscale housing
and leadership training.
New chapels at both camps.
Property enhancements such as: center of camp landscaping
at Sky-Y, pipe fencing at Chauncey, rail fencing at both
camps, road development, and complete building re-roofing.
If you are interested in participating as a donor or sponsor
of a project, please call Doug Grimm at the Camp office
602-254-1571.
3. Heritage Club
Heritage Club members are among a distinguished group
of donors who will ensure that the mission of the YMCA
continues to inspire tomorrows youth and families.
Heritage Club membership is open to anyone who wishes
to include the YMC in their long-range financial or estate
plans. Some planned gifts include:
Trusts
Wills
Annuities
Insurance policies
Cash or Securities
Property
4. GIVING ITEMS
Often times, people have items that they can no longer
use such as vehicles, equipment or tools. Camp can often
use these items if they are in good condition. Examples
of things we have received in the past include: small
size pickup truck, ATV for maintenance, chain saws, rakes
and shovels, pool tables, ping pong tables, canoes, trailers,
etc.
Sometimes, even if we cant directly use the item,
we can sell it and use the proceeds to purchase program
equipment.
Household garage sale type items are usually
not useful because of the industrial nature of the camps
usage, for example a 10-year-old couch or recliner is
probably not going to last very long at camp. However,
a furniture store that has seconds, returned or other
type furniture to donate may be useful.
Call 1-800-660-1385 if you have anything you would like
to donate.
5. YOUR TIME
Twice each year, we have Work Weekends at our camps to
complete projects from wood splitting, pathway construction,
painting, cleaning, etc. that helps improve our camp sites.
In addition, we are always willing to host your group
of Boy Scouts, club or organization for a special work
weekend. Please call Doug Grimm
at the Camp office 602-254-1571.
