What Your Donation Will Provide
2009 “Send a Kid to Camp” Campaign

1. Annual Strong Kids Campaign
Strong Kids grow up to be productive adults. That’s why it’s important to give meaningful direction to kids from every social and cultural stratum. They need a sense of belonging, positive role models and motivation in an atmosphere that’s safe and inviting. Kids get all that and more at the Valley of the Sun YMCA.

Our goal is “to never turn anyone away from programs because of their inability to pay”. This year the Valley of the Sun YMCA will raise $2 million in the annual Strong Kids Campaign to make that goal a reality. At Camp, we will help more than 350 families attend our programs that otherwise would not be able to attend.

Businesses also are encouraged to participate and sponsor a child or group of children. What could be a better gift for your employees than the gift of summer camp? Sponsors of $1,000 and more are recognized as Presidents Club members. Those of $5,000 and up are recognized as Chairman’s Circle. These special contributors receive an attractive “kids art” memento and can attend an Annual Dinner each Spring.

Regardless of the size of the gift, all gifts enable the YMCA to enrich and expand its ongoing work with young people.

2. CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
Because of the generosity of many people and corporations, YMCA Camp has raised $300,000 during the last year for special projects at our camps. Some of these projects include:

Our goal is to provide the best facilities and programs possible as we meet the needs of YMCA campers and guest groups. The Sky-Y facilities are more than 60 years old and the Chauncey Ranch buildings are 30 years old.

Some of the “hoped for” projects on the horizon include:

If you are interested in participating as a donor or sponsor of a project, please call David J. Fermoile – Operations Director at Camp Sky-Y (800-660-1385) or Jay Collins – Operations Director at Chauncey Ranch or click on the Pledge Card link above, complete the pledge and mail to YMCA Camping Services, 5725 S. Senator Hwy., Prescott, AZ 86303.

3. Heritage Club
Heritage Club members are among a distinguished group of donors who will ensure that the mission of the YMCA continues to inspire tomorrow’s youth and families. Heritage Club membership is open to anyone who wishes to include the YMC in their long-range financial or estate plans. Some planned gifts include:

4. GIVING ITEMS
Often times, people have items that they can no longer use such as vehicles, equipment or tools. Camp can often use these items if they are in good condition. Examples of things we have received in the past include: small size pickup truck, ATV for maintenance, chain saws, rakes and shovels, pool tables, ping pong tables, canoes, trailers, etc. Sometimes, even if we can’t directly use the item, we can sell it and use the proceeds to purchase program equipment. Household “garage sale” type items are usually not useful because of the industrial nature of the camps usage, for example a 10-year-old couch or recliner is probably not going to last very long at camp. However, a furniture store that has seconds, returned or other type furniture to donate may be useful. Call 1-800-660-1385 if you have anything you would like to donate.

5. YOUR TIME
Twice each year, we have Work Weekends at our camps to complete projects from wood splitting, pathway construction, painting, cleaning, etc. that helps improve our camp sites.

In addition, we are always willing to host your group of Boy Scouts, club or organization for a special work weekend. Please call the Camp office 602-254-1571 for additional information.
