Description: Sky-Y Teen Adventure Travel Camps are for teens looking to make new friends, explore great places to travel, and enjoy the great outdoors.
How We Get There: Campers will travel to various sites by YMCA Mini-buses driven by Camp Staff who are all 21 years of age or older.
Where We Stay: Adventure campers stay in tents at local campgrounds. Campers share tents with other campers, and cook all meals on camp stoves. Depending on the trip, some campsites will be used for multiple nights, other trips will require us to pack up camp and set up tents in a new location each night. Check your specific trip’s itinerary for details.
Campsite Amenities: What each campsite has will vary on the trip. Most, but not all campsites will have showers. All campsites will have drinking water, fire pits, and toilets. For those campsites that do not have showers, we will only be staying at that location for a maximum of 2 nights, and will then move to a campsite that does have showers. Check your specific trip’s itinerary for details.
Spending Money: All campers will have a chance to buy souvenirs, or stop and get snacks at various rest stops along the way. A suggested amount of spending money is listed on each packing list. Additionally, we are not allowed to bring camp food into amusement parks. So for those trips that visit an amusement park, campers are responsible for buying both lunch and dinner with their own money at each park. We suggest $10 per meal because although campers usually buy fast food – it usually is a bit over-priced, and they will probably want to buy snacks and drinks throughout the day as well. Spending money will be kept in a lock box until needed by campers. It is best to send spending money in 10’s and 20’s so that we can pass out only the amount needed for each day.
Cell Phone Policy : Click HERE for our 2008 cell phone policy for adventure campers. Please make sure both parents and campers understand this policy.
Pre-Trip Meetings: New for 2008, we would like to set up pre-trip meeting for both parents and campers at various YMCA locations in the Phoenix area. This will give parents and campers a chance to ask questions, and go over the packing list and policies with the Teen Director so they can be fully prepared for the adventure. Dates and times of pre-trip meetings will be sent upon registration. If a parent/guardian cannot attend, we will happily set up a time to chat on the phone.
Required forms: Please click on each form listed below. Paperwork will be collected on drop off day. Please do not send paperwork to camp early!
